RaspyFi Rc2 is out!

Here it comes, after several days battling with git, sd card corruptions, sysconf, init scripts, daemons and hangovers the new RaspyFi release is out. It’s pretty complete right now, but I still have some things in to-do list… But my first priority is to get rid of this annoying usb issue, I’m compulsively following this thread hoping for the best…

This nasty release will bring you peace, joy, a brand new car and:

-Apt-get and locales issue fixed
-hw setting instead of mmap_emu in alsaconf
-mpd renicing at -19
-using latest mpd version (17.0 git)
-wi-fi ready out of the box via wicd-curses
-less daemons and processes active
-cpu governor set to performance
-cohexistence of nas folder and fat32 key on same database
-if no usb dac is plugged, then analog jack becomes default
-nas tweakings
-furhter usb tweakings
-a nice splashscreen
-mpc added

Is RC2 now supporting NTFS USB harddrives ?

  No, but you can install them following this:

  Next release will have usb automount, supporting all known filesystem! (well, maybe not really all of them… but you got it…)

I’ve installed RC2 and now MPD only imports mp3 files into library. It ignores the majority of my files which are WAV format. RC1 worked just fine with the same files.

  @Simon Knight – Interestingly my files are all ALAC, which also worked fine on RC1 (albeit wired, not wireless). I assumed it was a hard drive access issue, but haven’t confirmed this.
  
  I have not tried using MP3s though, I’lll have a go later and report back.

      Both FLAC and MP3 work for me. ALAC still not working. Don’t know why as they worked on RC1. What’s changed?

  Hello guys, thanks for your feedback. This could be due to mpd version .17, that i built from source. Maybe the .wav libraries are not present, or i built mpd without .wav support (honestly didn’t thought it would be needed). That could be true for alac as well.
  I suggest you guys to discuss this on the forum. I’ll open a new thread, and I can release a new version of RaspyFi in few days following your needings.
  As for the radio support, same as above.

Amazing!

I do have one problem however, MPD won’t recognise my usb hard drive. It worked before, seems to be mounted correctly and recognised in the terminal. A problem with permissions?

Downloaded, unrar’ed and installed on sd-card. Raspi booted, DB updated and off we go. It is almost too easy!

I cannot say that I hear a lot of difference, but that could be because I am in the kitchen and the dishwasher is a bit noisy

I will see if I get my act together and set up a samba-server over the weekend and get the second Raspyfi going also.

Currently listening to Tina Dickow, warming up to hearing her live tonight. Recorded music is good, live is better, though
