I got everything formatted correctly, but I was just too impatient to let the db load before trying to get it working. Everything’s work now, and I’m enjoying it. Appreciate the work that went into this!

This should be

//192.168.1.NASIP/SHAREfolder/ /mnt/nas cifs username=pi,password= 0 0

Then reboot, and update database. This works with samba shares, so make sure your nas shares with samba. If not, create a samba share! Let me know!

Please forgive the stupid questions as I’m new to all this.
Should this be:
//192.168.1.YOURIPHERE/folder/folder /mnt/nas cifs username=pi,password= 0 0
What password is that referring to? If I don’t have one on my NAS, do I leave it blank?

What password do I use for mpdroid?

I put lot of effort into optimizing RaspyFi, and I’m happy you enjoy it’s quality. Little optimizations in different fields bring lot of benefits… Now I hope to get the issue of stuttering solved. Regard the tzdata issue it came out that the image got corrupted, I’m about to release the rc2 in which you’ll find other quality improvements and no errors with apt-get. I’ll add your DAC to compatibility list.
My effort is well paid when I read feedback like yours!

I tried manual mpd installation on Raspbian before deciding to try raspyfi. I couldn’t get volume control to work on that system. However, with raspyfi, volume control (mpc volume +1) works after installation, which allows me to set playback volume to 100% and use Audinst real volume control instead. The setup sounds very good.

A little wonder is that the RC1 doesn’t come with mpc, which is quite handy. I also found that “tzdata” package was corrupted, so I need to clear cache and reinstall the package before I could install mpc.

Pops/clicks do happen when listen to 96/24 tracks with 44100:16:2 setting commented out, but the clicks are quite rare compared to stock raspbian + manual mpd installation.

Overall, I really enjoy listening to raspyfi. No doubt, it turns raspberry pi into a serious audio equipment and I really appreciate your effort :-)

Yeah sure’s 2024 is a very nice amp for the price, if you wish you can mod them to achieve best sonical results (stock sure lacks a lot in the low end) it s a funny thing to do. You can see here:
http://www.justblair.co.uk/sureta2024/index.html
You can just start by changing imput capacitor with 2,2 Uf and remove the high pass filter (resistance), be sure to compare the tweaks on this version with the datasheet of your sure’s version.
Regarding the dac, I am extremely satisfied with the ODAC, it’s a wonderful piece of gear (for the price) you can find it here:
http://www.headnhifi.com/
There’s also a clone out there, but in my opinion it does’nt get close to what ODAC does, (although I never listened to it) you can find it here

Let me know!

Coupled with a pair of Mini Advent speakers, it sounds quite good in the kitchen. It is never going to be high-end, but for the price, it is very nice indeed. Now I am waiting for a cheap DAC, going to play with a 4$ usb stick to start with, but do you have any recommendations for cheap DAC’s that will give a passable analog signal from the usb of the Raspi?
