RaspyFi is an open source linux distribution. It will transform your Raspberry Pi into an audiophile source, in 10 minutes without hassles. It comes ready to play, and it’s compatible with almost every USB DAC available.
You can consider it as a Voyage-MPD version for Raspberry Pi. But it’s simpler to use and it has several other functionalities!

With RaspyFi you’ll be able to play your music library directly from an USB Storage or from your NAS. You can also listen to your favourite web-radios and scrobble your favourite tunes from Spotify, Last.fm and Soundcloud.
You will be amazed about the sound quality! RaspyFi’s core feature is this. We are trying to get every bit of your music to play as accurate as can be, optimizing every aspect of the system.

RaspyFi supports asynchronous playback to take advantage of the latest DACS, it features a nice webgui you can use to configure it without hassles and to play your library from your pc, your smartphone or your tablet.

Hi, The download of the file RaspyFi1.0.zip doesn’t work. The file size is 393 MB, but the RAR/ZIP file says it’s 402 MB. Failed to unpack.

Hello, just bought a rasperry to try out with a wadia dac, then I noticed there is no upnp support in raspyfi? the entire reason for which I bought the rasp
Is there any plan for this? upnp renderer that works with foobar2000 would be awesome

This project looks great. I was wondering if it is possible to have the audio being played broadcast as a local network internet radio station? In that way you could point any internet radios in your house at the devices address and use the web interface to choose your music from your library?

  We are working at a multiroom solution, and to a local web radio as well… But it takes quite some time…

    Which technology do you have in mind for that? For my project I wanted to use PulseAudio with RTP but it prove “quite” unstable, it would crash my Wi-Fi network whenever started :p

      There’s a specific option in MPD which sends via icecast and can sync the playback trough various positions, but I think it can be done also with pulse (but I must admit I quite hate pulse…)

        I couldnt get it working on my image (always getting an “Connecting…”-screen or a 504 Timeout when i try to access some different screen than the index). Now i use the Raspyfi image.
        
        Ive a little problem. Everytime i manually change the samba or nginx conf files they magically get reset? How can i disable this in your Raspyfi image?

        Thanks for reporting, this is a little bug… This was designed to let you manually edit them from the GUI, but since yours doesn’t work.. Which client are you using (win, mac, linux… )

thanks for making this distro, I got it to work and it works like a charm. Donation is on its way, thanks for actually putting this idea to reality. Listening to the Pi+ODAC+Miracle ITA45 (valve amp by dutch elec.engineer M.v.d. Veen) is a party each time; controlled from my phone – I may even become a couch potato

    Sound quality is really great. I compared a FLAC rip with the same cd (over my NAD C545BEE player) and couldn’t hear the difference. No blind tests yet but I will ask my wife to help me with that…keep you posted.
    
    I’ve also seen lots and lots of difference in recording and compression quality given the ODAC and Raspyfi. Initially doubting my set, I tried albums which I knew had different dynamic range & frequency emphasis (i.e. norwegian black metal flac vs pink floyd the wall (vinyl flac rip)) I found that the ODAC+Pi play the music exactly as recorded as far as I’m aware (by comparing them to the cd and real vinyl that is).

Great work, this is actually the reason why I initially bought the Pi, to hook on the ODAC (maybe on of the best DACs?? dont want to get in the audiophilosofical discussion..). Although my research was way too limited then, I tried and found some forums that state it can work (i.e. http://forum.stmlabs.com/showthread.php?tid=1052). Have been struggling to get it to work for high-res (44.1+ khz) flac files (vinyl rips… yes, I know, its backward engineering but it leaves the record in peace & piece.) Looking forward re any news on the mentioned USB data mismatching/sound issue, keep up the good work!
