CM108 Audio Controller) and 2 sound card on board. When i plug more usb sound (ID 0d8c:013c C-Media Electronics, Inc. CM108 Audio Controller) & type command aplay -l it not detect the index =8 ( only index 0 to 7 ) whatever I want to plug more …But when I type lsusb , I can see the id usb sound number 8,9,10,…so I think not from kernel because you say 32 is default. Therefore, the problem it is from alsa, so how to do with alsa can run 32 devices.

bind_to_address “any″

to have it working. Any sense?
Thanks

I am only going to stream it, does it make any difference?

As you have suggested, I have started a thread in the forum waiting for your response with regard to the notification-hack on the server-side. No need to hurry, though.

Your setup is awesome! I think many others will be interested in building a setup like this, what about writing an article on it? I will be very happy to publish this on RaspyFi.com!
For your question, I will investigate the possibility to show real time info about the play status.
Guess only typing mpc will show the status of play… But I’ll let you know, you can start a forum thread and we can discuss it there. Let me know!

Thanks for the tutorial. I have been testing it for a few days using wifi (Raspi as an AP or client) and the client for iPhone. I am very happy to get rid of the default analog audio card and instead using a 20€ USB sound card and the results are very satisfying.

I have one problem though and could not find a solution for the past few days. I am using this setting for my car audio. Raspi is connected to my car stereo and scans for my phone’s hotspot every minute and gets connected if it is available. If not, it functions as an AP. I want to show “now playing” info with track info, album cover etc. in Raspi’s display (ie. MPD server’s info). At the present setting, it is shown in the client (iphone / android), but server’s display remains empty.

Is there any way to show this notification on the server side? I have found a few suggestions using the lib notify, however, none of them worked. Therefore, I thought that maybe you might have a suggestion and this hack would come very handy if you could implement it in your setting.

Is it doable and if yes, could you kindly make a few suggestions?

wbw.
Aydin

I,m really interested in your project. I’ve tried both methods, installing the image and installing mpd on an existing Raspbmc setup.
They both seem to work, the library gets updated, I can connect, but after starting a track it immediately gets paused.

I have my raspberry with HDMI connecto to my amp. Would that mean I need some sort of passthrough configuration of ALSA?
I’m rather new to Linux so I need some help with that.
Cheers,
Paul

You can achieve the same result by commenting the mixer section

If you use the builtin bcm2835 sound device, the mixer_contol is “Master”, not “PCM”. mpd will work without setting this, but you will not get volume control through mpd. The command amixer will provide the control name.
