But didn't get it to work yet. It looks like a hardware issue. I will report back as soon as I get it to work.

Tried experimenting with that.... Results?
Lot of disk space used... And got nothing out of it...
To install it try to use debian repos instead of raspbian ones, and then apt-get update
How do I use debian instead of raspbian?
I have done:
sudo apt-get install lirc
and then get the error message, so I can't even try. I have figured out how to do it on a regular raspbian installation and am happy to share my steps.

What do you use as a receiver?
I have tried TSOP34138 and TSOP4838, both on 3.3V. Both work.

Hi, I installed lirc successfully on RaspyFi with a nice Apple A1156 remote control, and is working great. I think that lirc should be installed by default in RaspyFi,, and user just to add his lirc.conf file for his remote model and I have a separate file with this kind of commands:
begin
prog = irexec
button = play
config = mpc play
config = mpc stop
end
Thanks Gheorghe,
I have tried this with a regular Raspbian installation and got it working nicely.
However, when I try to install on Raspyfi, I get an error message: E: Unable to locate package lirc
Is there anything I am doing wrong?
Thanks!
