I have a question regarding your full DIY power supply as posted on this page. I'm looking to add a raspyFi to an ODAC/O2 and since I already have 16VAC in the box it seems to be a perfect match.
However, I don't fully understand your implementation of the power supply. In addition to the input and output capacitors you seem to use two small caps? Is one parallel with the pot – I think I saw that in the manual. But what about the second one?
Thanks for a great project. Any help is appreciated.
Yep, one is a bypass cap, used to improve transient performance:
For improvement in transient performance, place a capacitor
across the voltage setting resistor. Capacitors up to
1μF can be used. This bypass capacitor reduces system
noise as well, but start-up time is proportional to the time
constant of the voltage setting resistor (RSET in Figure 1)
and SET pin bypass capacitor.
From the datasheet.
The other one is the 1uF cap, mentioned in the suggested application diagram.
If you have more questions, I'm here!
