Hello,
I'm playing with raspyfi since a few days. But I couldn't figure out how to add a connected USB volume to the samba sharing. I can see Ramplay and the WebRadio folder. Is it possible to add there a share for my usb hard drive?
Thank you very much!
That's a clever idea!
Here you go, you just have to edit the samba configuration files, in order to let him share also the USB folder of your db:
sudo nano /etc/samba/smb.conf
Then add this, in the bottom of the file
[USB]
comment = USB share
path = /mnt/USB
read only = no
public = yes
follow symlinks = yes
wide links = yes
Save it (ctrl+ X) and reboot the PI. When you'll access on samba you'll see lots of subfolders, look for the one with your files in it and you're good to go!
Let me know!
Hi Mike!!!
I left to you all my best congratulations for your great, wonderful work…. on TForum on raspy's thread
Just 5 min before discover this post i added this mod to the smb.conf and all is working fine.
Now i can see Usb disk in samba share but………
It is terribly SLOW… about 256 kb/s
taked 13 minutes to transfer a 224 MB folder
Any trick??
Thanks again
Don't forget to also edit this in the main configuration, otherwise it is lost when rebooting the Pi (at least in my case).
Same trick, but then in the file: /var/www/_OS_SETTINGS/etc/samba/smb.conf

yes, it's working! thank you!!
any chance to enable read and write?
I can change catalogs names but I'm not able to copy anything to RaspyFi's volume. I'm getting this error: "The item “THE HUNT.mp3” can’t be copied because there isn’t enough free space." Of course there is enough space, something is wrong with permissions.
I'm using Mac Os x.
Names of catalogs and files with special characters are messed up ex. ITYN5G~1 instead of I.E.M.
Cheers,
Adam
Hello,
the sharing works, but I have also the problem with "not enough space" = no write rights. Does anyone have a solution for this?
Thank you very much!
Hello,
I have the same problem with the speed of transfering files to the SMB share of the USB HDD.
Some more explanations:
After a couple of weeks with trial and error and installing raspyfi1.0 and changing back to my own mpd headless installation I found out some facts which may not apply to others but for me they are valid. At the moment I have two DACs, one Himedia USB Sabre async and a Behringer UCA202.
My reference music file is a flac file which I produced from a CD. It is a classical piano piece so I can hear pops, clicks or whatever glitches quite easily. The only way for a clean sound is when I connect the HDD stored with the music directly (of course with a hub) to the Pi. All other combinations produced some pops…. And there is no difference which DAC I use.
I also have a second Pi and my plan was to use one Pi as a NAS store for all my music, videos and photos, and the other Pi which is connected to the amplifier to play only the music. The Pi with the NAS has also a xbmc on top and is connected to the TV. So far is fine but I still get the pops.
That's why I changed plan and connected the NAS HDD to the Pi Music player as a USB HDD (no pops), but then I had to create SMB shares for the three categories, because the original files are on my big PC and the USB HDD functions also as a backup.
But I have the same speed problem (around 300 kb/S): it takes around 15 minutes to copy a flac album.
By the way, if I copy to the ramdisk share folder speed is OK.
Any help would be highly appreciated!
