I'm having problems getting this working at the moment.

I'm using the Edimax EW-7811Un.

When I run "sudo wicd-curses" it displays "No wireless networks found".

lsusb shows that the Edimax is there:-

If I do sudo ifup wlan0 I get

I've now managed to connect to the wireless network by hard coding the /etc/network/interfaces file like this:-

iface wlan0 inet dhcp

however I still get "No wireless networks found" when I run "sudo wicd-curses".

Note that if I try this using the same pi, same Edimax EW-7811Un but the Raspian wheezy distribution, sudo wicd-curses shows all the available networks just as I'd expect it to and connects perfectly.

Any ideas?

Your revised instructions allowed me to set up wifi using sudo wicd-curses.

I need to undo my manual editing but for now that will have to wait – I've been a bit busy re-ripping about 400 CDs into ,flac using EAC, playing with the Rega DAC (as it's still on demonstration) and putting a floor in my bathroom

At the moment, despite having a small piece of wood in my eye from the flooring, the ripping is worse. 75 CDs done so far…

Autoconnection? What have I missed? Do I have to start again?

After quite a bit of blind listening, with my son swapping cables, I found that I could not tell the difference between my CD10, or any of my CD10, my Pioneer PD9700 or the rpi playing through the Rega. I did consider trying a broader (cheaper!) range of DACs, but as I'd got a sound I was happy with – and I was being told to stop playing with that hifi and put the floor down in the bathroom – I decided to place my order for the Rega.
