Running a ARM ditribution on virtualbox that runs on x86/64 wont work out of the box.

Thanks for the pointer - it's not something that would have dawned on me. It was enough for me to figure out I would need something like qemu. I managed to get Raspian running with qemu (using http://xecdesign.com/qemu-emul.....-easy-way/), but not yet RaspyFi. But perhaps you're right that I might not need to.

Before the R-pi came out there were people already testing the Raspbian distribution using virtualization it needs a few tricks to get it running youll need to google that yourselve if you want to do it.

But i woudnt say its nessesary to run raspyfi in a virtualbox envirenoment, you can just copy the original files and name them [defaultname.extension].backup and place them back if you destroyed something or reflash the SD card when debian doesnt run at all.

Its just some config files if you keep a backup of those at hand you shoudnt have to much trouble testing/tweaking/tinkering on the configuration files

about github, i dont know never really used it

I've installed RaspyFi onto an SD card and got it up and running with my Raspberry Pi and it has worked great for an old sound system that was lying around.

I was a bit curious to look at how things work, so basically looked at the /etc/rc.local script and followed on from there. I would like to mess around with some of these scripts and was wondering how best to do this. My first thought was to run the distribution using VirtualBox, but I was unable to do this for reasons I've not yet uncovered.

I'm wondering if any of you guys developing this might share how you've set up a development environment for this project? I can see you've got code up on github at https://github.com/Tsunamp/RaspyFi. I'm not sure how I can use this... (sorry if this is obvious but I'm no expert:))

Thanks,

Ivad
