Hello,
I hear some pops while playing high resolution FLAC files. For example a FLAC 24 bit 192 kHz which size is >350 MB.
When I listen to radiostations, for example Linn Radio, no pops. I tried different settings (buffer size, kernel profiles) but I didnt find a solution. I tried an USB 2.0 drive FAT32.
Does someone have ideas?
My setup:
Raspberry PI Model B
PI Supply PSU 5v 1500mA
Lexar Premium 16 GB SD
D-Link DUB-H4 Powered
Western Digital MyPassport 2TB USB 3.0 (NTFS)
Micromega MyDac
Little Dot MK III Tube Amp
Sennheiser HD-650
It seems nobody has a solution… End of Raspyfi project?
impatient people……..
Have you tried looking around the forum for others that have the same problem And/Or a solution?
There are more people with "pops" ive had one or two my selve, i believe it's a load problem.
Higher quality audio from usb gives quite some load to your usb controller and then it go's to the CPU and back to the usb controller to go to your DAC.
(usb controller on the R-pi)
It isnt supported (yet), atleast by default, but putting the music on the SD card could be a solution, since its not connected to the USB hub.
I play music from USB drive. It seems this is not fast enough. I will try to play from a wired network location (NAS).
No, this is not a bandwith problem. Raspberry Pi has a problem in handling too much USB data, so the pops you are experiencing are due to an overload of data passing in USB. There is a solution and is using an i2s DAC. Soon I'll release an how to .
Or, you can use smaller res files…
