First of all… compliments for the project!
My setup, for in-car usage:
Raspberry PI (256MB)
Musical Fidelity VDAC II (just bought, perfectly working with usb/pc or optical) connected directly to RPi via USB
TPLink MR3020 (mobile wireless router, indipendently powered) connected via ethernet wire to RPi
Power supply for RPi: 2A, plus another 0.5A to manage USB HUB (for USB data key, TPLink, Rii wireless keyboard RF key).
Latest version of RaspyFI (image downloaded in early august).
All works perfectly, except… for the music, that is affected by an HIGH crackling sound.
I can update the music db (via mPoD on iPhone), SSH with no probs, etc. But the music, whatever format I play, is really BAD. I can "notice" the music being played, but the crackles are really terrible.
Any ideas? Many TIA!
Gianluca
Have you tried the beta build?
If not, have you applied the USB fix?

Just tried (excuse delayed replybut in vacation I've a really limited internet connection).
I followed the given steps. But I found a problem during this one:
sudo BRANCH=fiq_split rpi-update
I got…
"Cloning into '//root/.rpi-firmware'…
warning: Could not find remote branch fiq_split to clone.
fatal: Remote branch fiq_split not found in upstream origin
Unexpected end of command stream
!!! Failed to download new firmware files"
So I tried even all of the other steps, but at the end I obtain the same problem: crackles.
Now I see (both inside mpod and with SSH/cat instruction) that I'm playing HD files (such as 24/96) but… any of them is crackling. I can heard by far less crackles when I play normal 16/44 files, but neither they are perfect
Could it be a problem given by the async USB chip of my DAC?
Or it could be simply the failed firmware update mentioned above… How could I solve that failure? (I even tried a plain sudo apt-get update, that worked flawless, but didn't solve anything).
This is the complete failure log, just in case:

It seems that the Firmware update is no longer available… So the only thing you can do is use the 1.0 beta, which you'll find here:
http://www.raspyfi.com/forum/g…..beta-test/
Remember to change the default auto.nas settings, as described in the above thread…
The raspberry pi has problems especially with async devices, 'cause they use 24 or 32 bit for connection…
Let me know!
