hello Everybody,
First of all a big thanks to the (by now) team for developing Raspyfi, this was the reason I bought the RPi and I've been struggling with high-res audio until I stumbled upon this great work. The earlier releases worked very well, esp. with the USB firmware upgrade.
However since making a more permanent solution by placing my music collection on a recently bought NAS (Synology 213) I've been struggling with the update function. During updating (ssh:mpc update), the Pi is active (ssh: top, mpd @ ~13%cpu, cifs @ ~10%). However, updating my (somewhat large, ~250 GB) music collection, takes around 48hrs. Looking for the reason, I found that the NAS in providing data to the Pi @ 100 kbyte/s, whereas normally (i.e. playing a FLAC 96khz file) it easily hits 350 kbyte/s (same NAS). Using XBMC (my second favorite RPi OS…) playing 720p videos goes without stuttering/problems (likewise, same NAS). Therefore I do not suspect the WiFi is the problem (NAS & Pi go over wifi)
So, how come the update is so slow? I never had this before when using a mobile USB HDD. THe incremental update fucntion (ie. adding another album) worked fast & fine – done in less than 48hrs that is…
Any suggestions or leads are most welcome.
