I'm new to Linux and RaspyFi. Struggling for 2 weeks and able to get it works with a USB stick over wired-LAN
I'm now trying to use a USB HDD, RaspyFi could detect it not matter it is in FAT32 or NTFS. I tried to update the database from browser of other PC, I browsed the USB directory and could see more and more songs added to the list (few hundred songs in ape, flac, mp3 and wav), HDD led was blinking. However, it always hanged close to the end – the browser was disconnected, and try to access mpc at Raspberry, "connection refuse" was returned. Seems mpc hanged.
I read all the related posts in this forum and here mentioned that it may related to ffmpeg. I disable it but doesn't fix the problem.
Any clue?
That is interesting…
Let's see what gone wrong
please paste here the last lines (let's say 20… to be safe)
of
cat /var/log/mpd.log
Waited for half an hour and the HDD was cool down. However, cannot find the log file. Do I miss something to start the log?
Does Raspfi 1.0 native support logging? I reloaded the image again and could repeat the problem when update database. However, I still could not find the log file at /var/log/mpd.log
Also, followed some instructions from other web page to add
!mpd
*.* /var/log/mpd.log
at /etc/syslog.conf
then
# touch /var/log/mpd.log
# /etc/rc.d/syslogd reload
last command was failed. Also, no log file after mpc hanged.
I suspect the hanging problem is due to some Chinese characters in tags. If I started from very beginning and mount a pure English song HDD, there is no issue.
