Hi,
Just wanted to share an odd experience I've had with the 1.0 beta.
Everything was working fine last night, but when I started the RPi up today, no gmp client would connect to it – although both the web UI and ssh allowed connections just fine. After confirming my WiFi settings (all fine) I tried the following command that I found on an mpd forum:
sudo service mpd restart
…At which point everything worked fine again. Although it did show the following message (I've also seen this on startup), is this normal?
[ ok ] Stopping Music Player Daemon: mpd.
[....] Starting Music Player Daemon: mpdlisten: bind to '0.0.0.0:6600' failed: Address already in use (continuing anyway, because binding to '[::]:6600' succeeded)
. ok
I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that I shut the device down (using sudo halt) while a track was playing? Just a random idea.
Anyway, all working again now.
Cheers,
Karli
No, this is normal. But that's strange it cannot connect before… But I recommend stopping before halting…
Exact same thing has happened to me with the Beta and as you have found, restarting mpd solves it (until next reboot) I'm sure it is because of incorrect file permissions although I haven't had the chance to fix it permanently. If you find the solution, post it here please!

Ciao, same issue here, worked good for a couple of days then at last start MPDroid would not connect, I have stopped in a such brute mode, removing power plug but with the RC version this never gave problems.
Every command I tried to give to MPD via SSH gave error to connect to port 6600.
I tried some troubleshooting with the guide of MPD wiki but with no success.
I have noted that the same error "unable to connect to 6600" was given also at boot
I will format the SD and install again the image so to set again everything standard.
MPD wiki suggest that this kind of error (connection to 6600) could happen when more than one istance try to connect to this port.
Ciao, buon lavoro
Claudio
Hi Claudio, I identified the problem…
Try with
sudo /etc/init.d/mpd restart
If it doesn't work, do
sudo /etc/init.d/mpd stop
(do it twice)
sudo mpd /etc/mpd.conf
then reboot with sudo reboot
Let me know!

Hello,
I had the same problem, but
>sudo /etc/init.d/mpd restart
worked.
Thank you.

Hi there,
I have the same problem after restarting or powering on the RasPi:
The web user interface hangs until I log in via ssh and do "sudo /etc/init.d/mpd restart".
Interresting thing is, that I got this funny behaviour since I'm connected to my network via usb wifi.
In the past I was connected via ethernet, without any problems. So it seems like usb wifi does not get initialized quick enough before mpd starts?
Please assist, any help is welcome!
Thanx!
