Yeah, me too. I was planning to include it… But had no luck compiling it with current kernel.. I'm trying to get it done… Did you successfuly built it against previous versions?

After buying a different USB wireless device I have now have great sucess with the Beta using my B&W MM-1 USB speakers and my ALAC library running on MPD on iPhone and iPad. It's brilliant!!
One small problem I have been having however is when the Pi is restarted or when I switch my USB speakers between PC and Pi (on a USB switch) I have to either unplug and replug in the speakers to the Pi or reselect the USB DAC from the MPD menu.
It's a small issue which I can work around however it would be nice if the hot plugging worked more smoothly.
Great job!

Hey, It would be very nice to see the kernel headers included in / packaged for the final release. I need them to compile a kernel module.

Yes! but I can't rememer which image had used for it. (Raspbian, or your RaspyFi). The solution was just create a symLink between your kernel header, and a missing header. Then the 'make' run without any error.

That was my problem too

Could you please paste the exact commands? This will help me sort it out…
Anyway I'm not including the kernel headers, since it will add lot of size to download, but I could put them on the server and include a script that will download 'em…

Ok, that's all:
mkdir /lib/modules/3.6.11+
ln -s /lib/modules/3.8.12+/build /lib/modules/3.6.11+/build
Then try to 'make' a driver.
This worked for me.

Couple more things I've noticed about the beta: jumping forward through long mp3s (50-100MB) just disconnects gmpc (endless lost connections) and requires a reboot of the pi. This doesn't happen with rc2
Why wipe the files on ramplay between re-boots? The files are written onto the sd card, why not just leave them there?
Well, files on Ramplay are wiped because they sit on Ram… So they are not stored permanently, when you cut power, they disappear…

Ahhh. My mistake. Silly me…
I've been thinking since I've got an 8GB SD card, I could make a usefully large local music store on the card, not in memory, so I got a little confused.

I've been playing with RaspyFi for the past few days and I think I'm in love. Just installed RC3 today and here's the rundown so far:
- 8 Gb SD card
- Analog output to Logtiech computer speakers (my Modi and Magni are in the mail )
– Had to add 'modprobe snd-bcm2835' to /etc/init.d/myruns to enable the output (might be a good line to add to the final release)
– Works like a charm, but I find the volume "steps" are quite large. That is, when using MPoD, if I turn the volume down just 2 notches below 100% the volume at my speakers drops significantly, making it difficult, if not impossible, to choose a good volume through the MPClient. Once I get my DAC hooked up this may become irrelevant, I'll let you know what happens.
- All music is stored on a NAS (Lacie Network Space 2) on the local network
– No problems accessing NAS (edited fstab in RC2, edited auto.nas in RC3). Always mounts at boot up.
– Song changing is FAST! To be fair, all I have to compare to are my Airport Express and the iPhone app for my Denon receiver, but I've never seen streaming audio start so quickly. Very well done!
- Controlling from both GMPC on Linux and MPoD on iPhone 4: Working well so far.
- The WebUI is a nice touch but could definitely use some sort of track listing as well as a form to edit/add NAS info (IP address and folder path). Ideally, the WebUI would remove the need to SSH into the Pi at all (except for troubleshooting, etc.).
- Spotify does not seem to be available in Canada so I can't comment…
Sorry that I can't report any errors but if anything goes wrong I'll post the problem (and solution, if possible) asap.
Also, I've been looking around but I can't seem to figure out how to play Last.fm… Any tips?
Thanks for your extensive feedback!!!! And I'm really happy you're enjoying raspyfi so much! To reply to your questions:
-This is an issue I'm also facing, but this depends to how alsa behaves with hardware mixer. I'm looking for a solution. Telling me that happens also with analog out is a nice clue for me…
-I suggest you to look for the Nas fix here: http://www.raspyfi.com/raspber…..audio-fix/
This improves overall performances even more
-As for the webui, you'll be delighted for what you'll find in the final release. This is just a early stage preview, compared to the final one will blow your mind…
-As for Last.fm, I'm getting it to work… You'll find it in final release
And trust me, when your Modi will arrive… You'll be jumping around in extasy! RaspyFi + modi is a wonderful combo… You'll see… Let me know!
Here's my feedback
- Works very well in a Raspberry Model B and a cheap (very cheap) C-Media USB sound card.
- USB soundcard detection is out of the box.
- Music on a Synology NAS. Connection a bit tricky but finally works. It is only SAMBA? Will NFS be better? There is some ghost duplicates on the MPD music library. I'll do some research of this issue.
- Problems to get an fixed IP. I follow the tutorial steps with no success. I fixed a 2 weeks DHCP renewal cycle on my router, so no problem (at the moment).
- Now waiting for a Hifimediy Sabre USB DAC, to get a (noticeable?) better sound quality. Output is connected to a Denon AMP and Tannoy speakers
- It is far more stable system than Squeezeplug (Squeezebox+Squeezelite), but Raspyfi lacks of last.fm scrobbling and better playlist support. Any easy tool for a Linux newbie? It's planned any of this extras on final release?
Keep me in mind if you need help or beta testing.
Keep pushing!! Good work!!
Really happy to read such a good feedback!
Sadly, no NFS support now. This has something to do with the latest USB fix, which somehow breaks NFS support… As for the Samba configuration, it will be more straightforwarding with final release…
There will be also an easy setup of fixed ip. You'll be very pleased with the Hifimediy DAC, lot of bang for the buck here, amico mio.
I am working now on last.fm support, but current client apps (like gmpc) are lacking last.fm support. So the only way you can have it is to use the mPod app for Ios. Right now the main goal is to have everything working, next steps will be to have last.fm steady running…
Thanks for the beta testing offer, guess you'll have some work very soon!
OK!!
Final release is promising. I can't wait for it. And web GUI look great!
I'm now using mPod and mPad, and I think Last.fm support is only for artwork retrieval and streaming radio. I think there's no config for last.fm user/password in order to scrobbling the song is mpd playing.
Have you check this link?
http://www.raspberrypi.org/php…..38;t=42908
Maybe there's an easy way to implement this directly on the Pi and let Raspy do the last.fm scrobbling, separately of the client used.
I'm very newbie at linux and I don't know how hard it can be…

Can someone tell me where to put username and password for spotify? Can't find it in den Webui

Hello!
Just assembled my new PI and tried out the RaspyFi distribution. I use it with an Nuforce udac2.
My collection of FLAC music is on Synology NAS and it seems to work straight out of the box.
Real nice work
Now i plan to check out the Spotify support but got a little stuck.
- Where is despotify located in the filesystem? I can not start it according to the tutorial so it seems not to be in the path.
- How do you connect to the WebGUI?
Thanks.
Dear Peter, other admins and users,
Would you please share how to connect Synology NAS? I'm also new to RaspyFi and spent 4 hours tonight but still can't get my Synology connected with RaspyFi.
FYI, after sudo nano /etc/auto.nas,
Nas -fstype=cifs,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777,iocharset=utf8,rsize=130048,wsize=4096,cache=strict,username=pi,password= ://192.168.x.x/sharename
In my case, my nas = 192.168.0.105, username = abc, password = xyz, so,
username=//192.168.0.105/abc,password=xyz ://192.168.0.105/volume1/music
username=192.168.0.105/abc,password=xyz ://192.168.0.105/volume1/music
username=abc,password=xyz ://192.168.0.105/volume1/music
but all doesn't work.
Your help will be highly appreciated. Thank you.

@Billy: to connect to the WebGUI simply type the IP of your raspyfi into any web browser running on a computer on the same network. For example, my raspyfi is on 192.168.1.12 so I put http://192.168.1.12 into my address bar in Firefox, which is running on my laptop on the same network at home. That should be it. (Note, there should be NO NEED to type 'http://', I just added it for clarity's sake).
As for your Synology NAS, does it mount the drive at all? That is, can you navigate to is under /mnt/Nas/Nas when connected to your raspyfi through SSH? You might also try putting your username and password in quotes, like this:
username='abc',password='xyz' ://192.168.0.105/volume1/music
My NAS doesn't require a username or password, so YMMV, but all I had to change in auto.nas was the IP address and folder path. Looks like this on mine:
Nas -fstype=cifs,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777,iocharset=utf8,rsize=130048,wsize=4096,cache=strict,username=pi,password= ://192.168.1.12/OpenShare/Music
Good luck!
