Torrent-client on RaspyFi possible?

Is it, hardware-wise, possible to run a torrentclient like Transmission on the RaspyFi? I mean, without noticable performance drops?

I've seen projects of people making a dedicated R-Pi torrent computer. That's also possible but then I'll have to buy another Pi (one as NAS, one for RaspyFi).
It would be nice if I could keep my torrents running 24/7 and have them stored on another hdd then my laptop's. Harddiskspace is getting scarce on my laptop.

I did it some time ago, but in the end I found out that the Pi is not the device to do it… I ended up with several SD card corruption issues,.. However I was using OpenMediaVault and not transmission alone…
You can try and see how it goes, then in the worst case you just reflash a clean raspyfi…
So, install transmission, configure it and use transmission remote on your PC to control it…

My main concern is performance. The Pi isn't that powerfull and RaspyFi is designed to dedicate all the system's performance to audio. Won't that get in trouble if I install Transmission next to it?
