My actual situation:
- raspberry Pi -> HDMI Input to HDMI + Coaxial Audio Output Converter -> Hongkong DAC (with Coaxial audio in, CS4397 DAC and CS8416 receiver)
I want to skip the HDMI converter and add a USB to coaxial audio out device. What kind of device do I need? I read a lot of topics on USB DACs but already have the DAC.
This could be your best bet:

Look for this:
XMOS 192kHz high-quality USB to SPDIF

I think I don't understand what this XMOS USB to SPDIF does, can you explain this?
I think that the XMOS contains a receiver, but in my Hongkond DAC there is also a receiver (CS8416). Why do I need an additional receiver?
It is an USB to coaxial device… It needs a receiver as well, because it has to receive USB data and then convert it to coaxial…
The confusing part for me is the price of such device (90 USD + 40 USD shipment).
My DIY HK DAC was 100 USD, together with the PI and a USB -> Coaxial device of 130 USD this will give a strange balance in my opinion. My approach with hdmi to coaxial works fine, but synchronisation is lost in time when the tv is off.
I got your point
I used this some time ago, and it's good for what it costs:

Or if you prefer a boxed alternative:
