HiFace Two as transport. Music is stored on a nas (Openmediavault) shared as SMB. RaspberryPi connected to LAN with cable. Installed USB patch and modified connecton string in /etc/fstab with the parameters in the section "Update for SAMBA users" (not in the file /etc/auto.nas, I can't find it). Playback of FLAC up to 24/192 is ok.
Thank You.
Grazie.
Cambridge Audio DacMagic 100 are working absolutely flawlessly up to its limit at 24/192k – as long as the USB patch and “Update for Samba users” are both applied. Without the Samba settings, the sound will be distorted by random cracks, especially in the beginning of tunes.
The sound are open and full of detail – very enjoyable (also at 16/44.1k)
Setup: PI-B model, 2A supply, Synology 110j on 1 Gb net.
HiFimeDIY Sabre DAC2, I’ve only tested it up to 16/44.1k, but it should be able to play 24/96k. Tried with USB patch but without “Update for Samba users”, this worked perfectly.
The sound are somewhat “closed” and the finer details gets a bit muddy.
Setup: PI-B model, 2A supply, Synology 110j on 1 Gb net.

Hi all,
Many thanks for a wonderful project! I have just got my Pi up and running with RC2 and I can confirm that my Audioengine D1 with my Beyerdynamic DT 770 pro headphones works very well. I'm only using mp3's at the moment but intend to start converting my CD's to flac shortly.

Hi all,
I gave this a go at the weekend with a friends Raspberry Pi.
I managed to get a couple of albums to play through an 8gb flash drive. This sounded really nice
I then tried to plug in my maxtor HDD with my music collection but nothing. ?
I tried again with flash drive but some connection somewhere? was intermittent…. i gave up but glad i got some sounds before i did.
I used the MpDroid app to start/stop select etc.
Anyway to answer the question for this thread.
RaspyFi works directly plugged into the Cambridge Audio Azure 651A. Straight into the B Type USB slot. (no DAC required as its built in)
It played both FLAC and MP3.
Once the 1.0 release is available i may try again…….
Cheers

The PI has difficulty to handle an USB hard disk because it hasn't enough output power to feed it…
You should use FAT32 USB flash drives, and start playing only when the DB update has finished…
Let me know!

Schiit Modi works perfectly as does the FiiO E10.
Now you're talking about USB drives (i.e., WD My Book 1tb FAT32) not working? What if it has it's own power adapter?
Matrix Rip USB DAC works mainly using 320kbps mp3 wirelessly but have tested a couple of 24/96k flac using Beta 1.0. DAC details are
USB section consists of the following which I got from a post on head-fi.org

Hey guys, thanks all for your work!!
I'm trying to use a M2Tech Young DAC with no success. I use the RC2, but I'm not fluent on linux, so if anyone can help me I'd appreciate it very much. The problem comes when I try to play the music, as it gives the error "Failed to open audio output". The screen of the dac doesn't give the impression to be working. After a little search i tried this:
[email protected] ~ $ sudo aplay -l
aplay: device_list:252: no soundcards found…
I think this is quite convincing…
Thanks for your time and your help!
The Aune T1 tube DAC/headphone amp works like a charm. Very cool. I just plugged it into the raspberry pi and made sure "Server/USB DAC" was checked in the GMPC Windows client.

I can use RaspyFi 1.0 with my Teac UD501 for 44.1 FLAC or WAV, but not able to play well for the files 24/96 or above …. any hints for fix ?
Moreover, I cannot play DSD files at all, but just hang up my RaspyFi ….
robrob
how do you like the aune T1?
I am looking to get one for the raspyfi….
Have you used any other USB DACs?
M audio USB pro works, with hardware audio control working well.Airpay works from Ipad as well as iTunes on windows.Sound quality is great.I use mostly aiff audio streamed from a windows of and very rarely use Mp3.There is occasional pop when you start a new track, which tends to go away when you increase the buffer size to 30.however does not output Audio when Hdmi is connected.but worked when you remove Hdmi upon boot.

Happy to confirm that the Cambridge Audio Stream Magic 6 works out of the box with RaspyFi 1.0.
Fantastic efforts – thank you.
I can confirm that the Audio-gd NFB 11.32 works ok
USB receiver is a VIA VT1731
DAC is an ESS Sabre 9018
No async
Hardware Mixer works
Max Res is 32/192
Note the sound output is noisy if the kernel profile is default, works with ACX kernel profile under System --> Sound quality tweaks.
